Ancient City of Culture Walking around the Historical Marks

"Tainan is a place where people can dream, work, fall in love, get married, and live at ease." -Yeh Shih-Tao, a veteran of Taiwanese literature

The history of Tainan City dates back to the 1620s, making it the earliest developed city in Taiwan and the birthplace of the name "Taiwan". Tainan City is located in the south of the Northern Tropic of Cancer, and has a subtropical monsoon climate, with year-round warmth and little rain, the highest number of sunshine hours on the whole island, and an average temperature of 24.1°C. Tainan City is located in the south of the Northern Tropic of Cancer.

Today, Tainan City has 37 districts, which were originally under the jurisdiction of Tainan City and Tainan County in Taiwan Province, but after 2010, they were merged and reorganized into a city directly under the government. Walking into the ancient capital of Tainan is like stepping into a place of living history. As the first city to develop in Taiwan, and of course the source of livelihood development, you can walk into the first school in Taiwan and marvel at the place where Taiwan's education was developed; step into major temples and explore the inheritance of beliefs from the past to the present; and roam through ancient monuments and canals and witness the story of civilization changing.

In Tainan, turn a corner and you'll come across temples and monuments that date back to the past, and you'll be able to recount centuries of old town anecdotes. The rich, affordable and delicious Tainan snacks are the best in Taiwan, and have been recommended by the Michelin Green Guide, a world-renowned travel guide. Whether it's the fresh and sweet beef soup, the rice cake sprinkled with fish floss and dried meat, or the bowl of kuey teow filled with the aroma of rice, these local staples and old-fashioned snacks are the root of Taiwan's culinary culture, and carry the memory of Tainan's more than 300 years of history.
