Be a leader for your child

Good habits take effort, time and energy to develop, but it's easy and effortless to break the hard-to-establish good habits. Holiday syndrome is one of them.

Holiday Syndrome is a condition that occurs after a weekly or consecutive vacation, when a child's routine, which has been adjusted with great difficulty, is thrown out of whack because of the vacation. Some children need to readjust their routine, some quickly, others take longer. One day, I received a phone call from a parent who wanted to take her child out of school because she couldn't wake her child up. The parent had no choice but to take the child out of school because she couldn't wake her child up and was worried that she would have to go to elementary school. .... I can feel the mom's helplessness in the conversation .... I'm not sure if I'll be able to do it, but I'm sure I'll be able to do it.

It is natural for children to be bedridden. Some children are heavy sleepers and need more sleep, which is a natural phenomenon, but it is rare for them to sleep until 10:00 p.m. It is understood that this child will not get up at the end of the lunch break in the kindergarten and will not wake up until he is satisfied with the sleep before he gets up to clean up and tidy up. Because of the irregularity of the work schedule, if they sleep too much in the afternoon, they will sleep late in the evening, and if they sleep late, they will not be able to get up easily in the morning, and the cycle of work and rest is becoming more and more difficult to change, and when they are at home during vacation, they do not have the schedule of the school work and rest, so it is conceivable that their work and rest will be even more arbitrary.

Why is a routine so important? Because a regular routine is the first step in building habits. Habits are very powerful, and good habits can be built up into a tower, and the smallest effort each day can be accumulated into a huge advantage. There is a famous book called "Atomic Habits" that describes the enormous changes that can be brought about by making a little progress each time.

It is difficult to cultivate habits, let alone accumulate progress, when the work schedule is not fixed. In Jen-Ho's weekly and daily fixed work schedule, there are different activities to attract children, and they learn through experience, operation, and accumulation of knowledge, ability and experience, so that children can have something to look forward to. Occasionally, children may have difficulty adapting, but this is mostly due to the difference between home and school, and the different standards of parents and teachers. Of course, the kindergarten and teachers are only supporters, and it is ultimately up to the parents to decide on the child's growth and standards, and the child is very smart, and will naturally find a way that is most favorable to him or her.

Sometimes it is easy for teachers and parents, especially grandmothers and grandmothers, to be softhearted when their children are petulant or crying, but the responsibility of parents is not only to love their children, but also to lead their children and teach them a proper way of life. For example, if a child does not get enough sleep, then the child has to go to bed earlier, and if the child sleeps enough but stays in bed, then the child has to be informed that they have to get up when it's time to go to school.

Sometimes being a leader can make people resentful and even unforgiving, but it is the responsibility of a leader to insist on doing the right thing when everyone else is backing down. Parents become what their children emulate throughout their lives and are their children's first leaders, and it is one of the most important responsibilities of parents to teach their children how to be a leader, in a gentle but firm way.

On Wednesday, World Mother Language Day, the children, led by their teachers, presented the "Taiwanese Song" in order, without any stage fright, and some of the children, although they were not familiar with the song, were able to look at it seriously, which is a good attitude. Tomorrow is the Lantern Festival, and the children were given lanterns to decorate for the festival, which were brought back today and will be carried to the community tomorrow night. In the afternoon, let the children take the lanterns and experience the fun of lantern-carrying in the campus - "All night long on the 15th day of the first month of the lunar new year, come together to raise lanterns to avoid competition; let's guess the riddle made by Grandpa, and see who can guess it.

Have a nice holiday. Peace and happiness.
