Following the three-day typhoon vacation at the end of July due to Typhoon Kemi, Tainan had a three-day typhoon vacation last week due to Typhoon Santol. According to my friends, there are no consecutive vacations this year, but thanks to typhoons, there were two three-day vacations.
Two months into the semester, it is now October. October used to be called the Glorious October because there are three important holidays: National Day (10/10), Taiwan Restoration Day (10/25), and the birthday of the late President Chiang Kai-shek (10/31).

Every year on the day before the Fourth of July, community parades are held, and at least the children will march on campus with a flag in their hands. However, over the years, everyone has been celebrating Western Halloween, and the stores and shopping malls are all decked out in Halloween decorations, so it's really hard to buy a Fourth of July related item in a physical store, and the owner of the store says there's nothing they can do about it.
Although it is not available for purchase and lacks a National Day setting, the classroom teacher lets the children draw the national flag and the double tens by themselves. It's important for children to know about the country's birthday, especially since it's a national holiday.
From the teacher's sharing and looking through the calendar, the children saw that October 10th is the red letter, and they knew that the red letter is a holiday, two tens, Double Ten, Double Ten National Day, which brings in the English word for Double Ten by the way. Double is two - Double, ten -teen, Double Ten. Double Ten National Day is the birthday of the country - National Day. When we celebrate our birthday, our family will celebrate our birthday; similarly, we have to celebrate the birthday of our country, this year is the 113th birthday of the Republic of China (R.O.C.)!
Wednesday, Flag Raising Day, listen to the national anthem and then sing the flag-raising song ~ "Raise your head and chest, raise the flag of China, the sky is white and the earth is red, the sky is beautiful. How many colors are there in the national flag? They were asked how many colors there are in the national flag? Three - red, blue and white, and the sky is white and the earth is red. They also prepared several small national flags for the children to get to know, among which the Japanese flag was the most impressive because it was the most recognizable.
The birthday party for October was held at noon. The birthday girl's birthday wish for this month was not only for her parents to make a lot of money, but also to wish everyone good health and peace! Although we are not able to fulfill every child's wish, the Nursery prepares a red egg for the children at the birthday party every month to symbolize our blessings to the children.
Looking back over the past few years, we have experienced the impact of epidemics, external military threats, and many different voices in society, but we have persevered. Even though there are still many issues that we are not quite satisfied with, the free, democratic and affluent life in Taiwan is still the envy of many countries in the world. We should cherish and love the ROC and Taiwan even more, and pass on this goodness to our next generation.
Peace to your family.
