Christmas for traditional Christians is a celebration of the birth of Jesus. They go to Christmas services on Christmas morning to honor Jesus and to promote the spirit of Christ. However, the general public has come to see it as a popular folklore event, a time for people to share their love and care for family, friends and even others. It also symbolizes expectations of love, joy, peace, patience, thanksgiving, kindness, faithfulness, gentleness and temperance. Christmas seems to be a time of snow, but interestingly, for people living in the southern hemisphere, such as Australia or South America, Christmas is a summer festival!
Origin of Santa Claus
Christmas is a time of great excitement, especially for children. I believe we are all familiar with the story of Santa Claus, right? Once upon a time, there was an old man named Nicholas who loved to help poor people. Once he helped three poor young people by giving them three bags of gold so that they could escape being sold. When Nicholas secretly gave one of the bags of gold to one of the women, he threw the gold through one of the windows and it happened to fall into a stocking on the wall. So, the gift-giver who puts the gift in the Christmas stocking goes from house to house asking for candy!
It is said that on Christmas Eve, Santa Claus drives a reindeer sleigh full of presents for the children who have been good all year, and that he quietly climbs down the chimney and tucks them into the stockings that hang above the beds. That's why children always hang a colorful sock on their bed and put a glass of hot milk next to it to quench the thirst of the hard-working Santa Claus and to give a big gift to themselves.
The next day each child could not wait to open the gift to find out what prize they got.
In 1822, a Dutch missionary brought the story of this great philanthropist to the United States, and American merchants used this holiday to advertise with great fanfare every year with special marketing techniques, making a huge profit, and Japan and other countries in Asia also followed suit. Therefore, the custom of celebrating Christmas by dressing up as Santa Claus has gradually become popular around the world.
