Parenting] How to Instruct Your Child to Read - Parent-child co-reading has many benefits.

I. Preamble
The ocean of knowledge is infinite, and our life is extremely limited. In today's knowledge-booming world, even with the superhuman power of reading a hundred volumes a day, we still cannot digest all the knowledge in the world, because the development, derivation, and multiplication of knowledge are far beyond our imagination. Even as brilliant as Zhuang Zi, more than two thousand years ago, he sighed, "My life has its limits, and my knowledge has no limits. If ZHUANG Zi were in the present day, he would feel even more than the fear of walking on thin ice when facing such a vast and boundless sea of learning.

As the saying goes, "From the age of three, you can see how old you are." Childhood is the most malleable period, especially between the ages of three and five, like a large sponge that absorbs all kinds of stimuli from the outside world, and it is the golden age of life when learning is the fastest and most effective. If you can grasp this golden age of learning, your child will have already "won at the starting point"! Many studies have shown that the earlier a child develops learning habits and attitudes, the better. Take arts learning as an example, the famous Japanese music educator, Prof. Suzuki Jinichi, advocates that "talents should be inspired from the age of zero"; and regarding general learning, the call for "fetal education" has been rising and falling in this century, showing that the earlier good learning habits and attitudes are cultivated, the better the effect of learning will be. Parent-child co-reading is the best tool to cultivate good learning habits in children.

II. What is Reading

Human beings are naturally curious and want to know more about the things around them in order to satisfy their desire for knowledge, and then to grasp the characteristics of the things and utilize and control them. Of course, there are many ways to explore the truth of things, but the most convenient way to increase one's knowledge and wisdom is to experiment and experience for oneself, or to learn by directly absorbing the experience of others and making it one's own. Experimenting and experiencing in person, although the impression is direct and deep, but quite time-consuming, the results may not be as ideal as it should be; while through learning to learn from the wisdom of others crystals, it is obviously much easier and more effective.

Reading is the process of absorbing, through one's heart and eyes, the experience and wisdom of those who have gone before us, presented in various media (mainly paper books), and accomplishing one's own continuous growth. Of course, there are different ways of reading - hearing, seeing, feeling - as long as it is a process that allows us to learn and grow through audio-visual means, it can be collectively referred to as reading.

Gao Xijun: "No matter how busy you are, you have to read, no matter how poor you are, no matter how crowded your home is, you have to hide books, and no matter how shallow your friends are, you have to give them books.
