Message from the Principal - Child Care

At the beginning of March, the National Health Division of the Municipal Health Bureau organized a training workshop on children's oral and vision health care and screening for obliquely disadvantaged children at Dawan Elementary School in Yongkang District. Because of the long distance traveled and the time of the workshop from 12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., Mandy represented the kindergarten to participate in the training workshop. She left the kindergarten at 12:20 p.m. and returned at 6:10 p.m. Although it was a hard day's work, she gained knowledge about health care.

The topics of the study were Kindergarten Health Management, Smoke Free Baby Contest, Importance of Oral Health Care, Common Vision Diseases in Children and Understanding Strabismus and Amblyopia. We shared these important health care information with parents through the Renwa Story.

First of all, I would like to share with you the health items that are regulated by the Department of Health for kindergartens: the environment of the kitchen, the qualifications and health of the cooks, the source, purchase, placement and storage of ingredients for meals, the temperature of the refrigerator, knives and cutting boards, the sterilization of cutlery, the design of meals and the retention of samples; the cleaning of the water towers, the replacement of the filters of the water dispensers, and the testing of the water quality; the classroom and dormitory environment, and the children's beddings that have to be cleaned regularly once every week ( The director of the health center reminds parents to check if they have cleaned their bedding; toilets should be clean and odorless; hand-washing stations should be 50 centimeters above the floor; faucets should be wrench-type; disinfection of the campus should be done at least once every six months; a health care room should be set up with beds, quilts, pillows, height and weight gauges, vision check kits, and first aid kits; procedures for prescribing medication to children should be set up and implemented (a prescribing form should be written); handling of emergencies; height and weight measurements of children should be taken. The height and weight measurements, vision, hearing and oral examinations, etc., as well as the stipulation that vision care courses should be included in the teaching calendar, and also the environment of the classroom - toys, teaching aids, tables, chairs, floors, doors and windows, etc., which add up to a lot, these management items are divided into a very small number of items, and I feel that it is very cumbersome, but fortunately for the staff of the Yanhee, who are not afraid of the trouble, not afraid of hard work to carry out in accordance with the instructions to the best of their ability, hoping to give the children a clean place to live. We hope to give the children a clean, healthy and safe environment to learn and grow.

At the end of each year, we hold an exhibition of our achievements, dress up as anti-smoking dolls, and take photos for the contest. Sign my house as a non-smoker, quit smoking, don't smoke, and refuse to inhale second-hand smoke - "Non-smoking men are the most handsome and women are the most beautiful. Kindergartens are required to post no-smoking signs inside and outside the school.
Time came to 2:00 p.m., no rest, and continue to oral health care class, a little bit can not stand, just want to steal a break, but by Dr. Tsang Pil-kwan's professional knowledge of dentistry, self-confident attitude and clear and sweet voice attracted, suddenly sleepy bugs all disappeared, listening to Dr. Tsang's sharing of concentration.

From the growth of milk teeth to the replacement of permanent teeth: Milk teeth start to grow at 6 months old, and are completely finished by 2.5 years old and replaced by 6 years old. There are 20 milk teeth and 32 permanent teeth. First molars will not be replaced after 6 years old, incisors will be replaced from 6 to 8 years old, molars will be replaced at 10 years old, canines will be replaced at 11 years old, second molars will be replaced at 12 years old, and third molars will be replaced at 18 years old. Milk teeth will be replaced anyway, so it doesn't matter if they are decayed? Doctors say, "Failure to take good care of milk teeth will affect personality development, self-confidence, dentition, and living and eating habits," so it is important to take good care of milk teeth so that permanent teeth will grow well.

How does caries develop? It is closely related to the food and the time of brushing, especially the food, such as bread, ice cream, cake, hamburger, French fries, Coke, milk tea, chocolate, soft drinks, black tea and all kinds of fruit juices and other sugary food.

Why is oral health important? Because (1) toothache can be fatal (2) you can't eat without teeth (3) dentures are expensive, especially implants (4) it's hard to look good without teeth (5) oral cancer is scary.

To have healthy teeth is actually very simple. Apart from paying attention to your diet, the most important thing is to brush your teeth and have regular checkups. How to brush your teeth? When should I brush my teeth? The doctor tells you the 333 tips for brushing your teeth - the first 3 is to brush your teeth within 3 minutes after eating, the second 3 is to brush your teeth for 3 minutes each time, and the third 3 is to brush your teeth at least 3 times a day, especially before going to bed.

Lastly, Dr. Chi-Chiu Lee shared about vision care for children, focusing on early detection of strabismus and amblyopia, especially in the pre-school years because amblyopia can be treated, but it must be detected and treated early in the pre-school years, through screening for strabismus and amblyopia. Early treatment is more effective because the younger the child, the more plastic the visual system is.

Whether it is dental or vision care, we are really very attentive and practical in doing to promote and strengthen the work in the early childhood learning manual also provides this information, please parents to read, and look forward to parents can cooperate with the kindergarten's work, for your baby child's health to do gatekeeper.

Peace and Happiness
