"This Taiwanese proverb means "Even in the ninth month of the lunar calendar, there are still typhoons, so you can't take them lightly."
The succession of fall typhoons has really confirmed this proverb. Typhoon Fanapi hit southern Taiwan hard, raining nearly 1,000 millimeters in Kaohsiung, causing massive flooding, and Mayor Chen was bombarded for the incident, and then last week's Typhoon Meiji, which brought huge rainfalls, causing massive flooding in Yilan and Su'ao, as well as a major collapse of the Su-Hua Highway; from the TV news footage, there were piles of dirt and rocks in the alleys and lanes of some districts that were higher than a human being's height; Some homes were almost completely flooded by the mudslide, and there were also drinks and cans from supermarkets scattered all over the place in a mess, with no idea of how to clean them up; some homes were completely destroyed, and people even lost their lives; and there were also tourists still buried in the mudslides, which are shocking and heartbreaking images.
From last year's Typhoon Morakot to Typhoon Megi, only one year apart, there were many natural disasters in Taiwan during this period, seeing the power and ruthlessness of nature, have we learned a lesson from this? Technology and civilization are no match for the power of nature. God created all things in heaven and earth, and on the sixth day he created man in his own image and asked him to manage all things in heaven and earth properly, but man misused his intelligence to destroy the ecology of nature, cultivating and logging indiscriminately, resulting in frequent disasters. The forest is the home of water, we should understand the natural ecological environment and take good care of it.
Due to the onslaught of Typhoon Meiji, Tainan City had a typhoon holiday in the afternoon last Friday. Shih-Ting's mom called to tell us that school would be closed in the afternoon, so we quickly went online to see if the Education Bureau had signed off on the holiday, but before the announcement was made, we received phone calls from parents all the time. It was around 11:45 when the suspension was confirmed. At that time, the older class was having physical fitness class and the younger class was preparing for dinner. The sudden news caught us off guard, and we were unable to bring back the Renhe Story, the class sharing, the daily contact book, quilts, toothbrushes, etc. We were all heartbroken. We were very anxious and the children did not know what the adults were doing. The kids didn't know what the adults were up to. Plans really can't keep up with changes. The children went home around 3:00pm.
This week, the most exciting activity for the children is the Halloween activity on Friday. Halloween is a ghost festival, in order not to make the children feel scared, the kindergarten will organize it with a different theme every year, this year it is the "Animal Kingdom", the children are looking forward to the cozy companion to become their favorite animals, there are "monkeys, white rabbits, sheep, tigers, lions..." Are you ready? "Ready? I've bought it! ..."
Nicco's mom shared, "I heard Nicco say she wanted to dress up as an animal for this Halloween event, so I took her to Carrefour to pick one out. I wanted to use a bought one, but she said she wanted to do it by herself. It took her half a day on Sunday to make it. Parents' respect for their children and their willingness to go through all the trouble to enjoy the parent-child relationship and the fun of doing something with their hands is something that money can't buy, and it's priceless, and it's an indescribable sense of fulfillment.
Due to the Halloween activities, the whole kindergarten was mobilized, and everyone worked together to complete the decoration of classrooms and activity rooms, as well as pumpkin cars, bat caves, and pumpkin gates. In addition to drama performances, walk-throughs, and customs clearance, we also went to the community and Far East Department Store in groups.
Peace and Happiness
