Story Sharing Race and Life Mother Tongue

Starting in late May, a series of storytelling events will be held in the school, starting with an English storytelling contest, storytelling for the older classes, and children's songs for the middle and younger classes. Every year at this time, we hold a story sharing contest where children are free to sign up and go on stage in English, Chinese/Chinese, and Taiwanese/Fujian to practice expressing their stories in different languages. This is a way for children to practice using the six domains of language.

Learning by listening, speaking by playing, even a 5 year old can speak Taiwanese naturally!

Taiwanese used to be the main language of communication for my parents' generation, but as I grew up, they almost always spoke Chinese to me, and I only spoke sporadic Taiwanese when communicating with my elders, so it can be said that I learned Taiwanese by listening, or by trying to say it incorrectly. After I started working, I felt that speaking Taiwanese with the elders could help me get closer, but my accent was too strange and I was often "advised" to speak Chinese. After my daughter was born, I never

Be a leader for your child

Good habits take effort, time and energy to develop, but it's easy and effortless to break the hard-to-establish good habits. Holiday syndrome is one of them. Holiday Syndrome is a condition that occurs when a child takes two days off a week or a series of vacations and then loses the routine that he or she has worked so hard to establish. Some children need to re-adjust to their daily routines, some very quickly, while others need a longer period of time. One day, I received a phone call from a parent who wanted to hire a child care provider for their child.

Message from the Director - Come and have a pound of rice, have a mouthful of food!

"One, two, three, pound, everyone, come and eat pound rice, eat your mouth, eat your teeth, eat your mouth, eat your mouth, eat your mouth, eat your mouth, eat your mouth, eat your mouth, eat your mouth, eat your mouth." Each semester's curriculum includes mother-tongue teaching, with a Taiwanese hooligan song every two weeks to match the theme or season. Through the recitation and singing of children's songs and the meaning and context of the lyrics, children are led to learn their mother-tongue and get close to their mother-tongue, and for the older children, each nursery rhyme can arouse their interest in learning....

Endangered Languages and Cultures - The Importance of Mother Tongue Education

Recently, a political figure made an inappropriate remark: "The policy of mother-tongue education is a waste of educational resources." This has aroused the strong dissatisfaction of civil society organizations, which believe that this statement has caused a serious impact on the hard-working people who are engaged in mother tongue education, as well as on Taiwan's multiculturalism, mother tongue education, and ethnic integration. In fact, language is not only a superficial tool for communication, but also a fundamental part of culture, which affects the development of language, and without the aid of language, culture will wither away, and thus the language will not be used for the purpose of education.

Monday, October 10th, the National Day, is the 111th birthday of the Republic of China (ROC), the birthday of the nation, a day to celebrate, and I am sure that many people chose to stay in front of the TV to watch the bustling celebrations in front of the Presidential Palace. Some said they saw airplanes, some said the street dance was great, and some said the band performed at ..... This year's National Day

Parenting] The Modernization of the Taiwanese Mother Tongue in the 21st Century

February 21 is World Mother Language Day, and five languages spoken in Taiwan, including Taiwanese, Hakka, and Aboriginal languages, appear in the Taipei 101 Building, but today's stereotypical image of Taiwan's local mother tongues is also like the symbol that appears - "Greetings". Although there have been many recent revival movements to revive the Taiwanese mother tongue, given that the carrier of today's Chinese language is Taiwan, Taiwan actually needs to establish a system to carry the Taiwanese mother tongue and to carry forward the modernization project from generation to generation. Language is not only a carrier of culture, it is also a carrier in the world.

It's not about the starting point, it's about the finish line, it's about the process.

"Teacher, I see that other kindergarteners in bilingual schools can talk to foreigners, but my child can't even know his ABC's. Am I letting him miss the golden age of learning? When should he learn the alphabet and phonics?" I have to tell you that there is no standard answer. The so-called "golden period" of learning is overused by English tutorials and bilingual/whole language kindergartens, which even use a threatening tone in their advertisements, telling you, "Don't let your child

Language is not only a way to know yourself, but also a key to the world.

The Story Sharing Contest entered its final stage - in Taiwanese - and was held on Thursday. Nine children in the older class and two in the middle class participated in the contest, but there were a few who gave up because they did not go to school due to the suspension of classes due to the epidemic, and there were some who came to school to participate in the contest.
