Message from the Director - Five Days Festival

"On the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, we tie meat dumplings, and on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, we race dragon boats to win the championship. Eating meat dumplings and watching the dragon boat will make adults and children laugh."

Take the test. Go ahead! I speak Taiwanese, you speak Chinese.

"Five Days' Festival?" "Dragon Boat Festival." "Sourcing meat dumplings." "Rice Dumplings"; "Dragon Boat Rowing". "Dragon Boat Racing"; "Meat Rice Dumplings"; "Meat Rice Dumplings"; "Dragon Boat Racing for the Champion". "Row the dragon boat and win the championship." "Eat meat dumplings?" "Eat meat dumplings." "Adults and children are laughing and smiling." "All the children and adults are smiling."

It's great! The children's Taiwanese language is getting better and better. They understand the meaning of the words before they can translate them, and they have the opportunity to listen and speak in everyday conversations and recite Nanyang songs, so their ability to interpret Taiwanese is growing and improving day by day. This is especially true for the Kindergarten class.

For the past one to two decades, mother tongue instruction has been a mandatory part of any elementary school or kindergarten program. Every Tuesday is our Mother Tongue Teaching Day, and children are encouraged to talk in their mother tongue as much as possible that day.

Language is a tool for communication between people. Only when you understand what the other person is saying can you respond appropriately.

If you have the opportunity to speak often, you will become more fluent. The same is true for learning English. If you take the opportunity to practice at home, you will be less motivated and less effective if you take it as a course.

Learning for life is the only way to enhance children's interest in learning.

With the arrival of the Dragon Boat Festival, the children have gained a better understanding of Dragon Boat customs and can recount the stories of Dragon Boat and Qu Yuan, the hanging of calamus and wormwood, the setting up of eggs, the wearing of fragrant buns, the rowing of the dragon boat, and the eating of zongzi (rice dumplings), etc. The children also have a better understanding of the customs of Dragon Boat.

This morning we held a Dragon Boat Festival celebration and the children enjoyed the festive atmosphere. Time passed so fast, so fast, so fast!

After the Dragon Boat Festival, it will be the beginning of summer and our swimming lessons will start. Please remember to take advantage of the consecutive vacation time to prepare swimming suits and things with your children (so that they can get to know them), write down their names, and pack them in the appropriate bags.

The two-day, one-night camping event, Growing Joy, will be held next Friday, and preparations are well underway, just waiting for the time to come.

And the story sharing program, wow! The children are looking forward to a colorful June!

Peace to your family.

Happy Dragon Boat Festival (Please be safe when traveling)

Mandy
