The fear of cancer is no longer limited to smokers, drinkers and betel nut eaters! Last week, the National Health Administration of the Ministry of Health and Welfare released information showing that obesity, unhealthy diet and lack of physical activity have become emerging cancer factors in Taiwan, with the number of people suffering from cancer continuing to increase, and the age of the population is also getting younger; the rate of meat and high-fat food intake in Taiwan is higher than that of other Asian countries, and the number of people suffering from cancer is also increasing.

Fire and water are merciless. This week's boat accident involving a bakery in Yuanlin, Changhua and a South Korean oil tanker reminds us once again of the mercilessness of fire and water, which can cost us our lives if we encounter them. Therefore, we should not be careless or perfunctory in taking precautions in general. Sometimes I feel that the requirements of the relevant units are too much, too cumbersome and too harsh, and those who are required to do so will often disobey and think that they are doing the right thing by speculating and thinking that this will be enough.

One of the many highlights of the week was the Storytelling Competition. In order to build children's language skills, encourage them to speak up, train their courage, and identify their strengths, the Storytelling Contest is held every year. This year, the format has been changed and is divided into three phases: the preliminary round on April 9th, the final round on May 21st, and the final round on July 10th. The preliminary round is universal and every child is encouraged to participate. Half of the class participants will be selected to participate in the second stage in May.

I. Preparing for Storytelling Choose books that can be read aloud. Make sure, as much as possible, that the stories and activities you choose to lead are appropriate for the audience (e.g., picture books with a small amount of text are best for 4-7 year olds, storybooks with a small number of chapters are more appropriate for 6-8 year olds, and 9-11 year olds should be allowed to explore their own favorite books).
