Due to the arrival of the Dragon Boat Festival, the Tainan Municipal Bureau of Education organized a doll celebration at Anping Junior High School, an activity that has been held for the past few years, with Qiu, the director of the Hip Ching Kindergarten, who is enthusiastic and has the ability, resources, and connections to be the chief planner of the event. We are grateful to her for her selfless dedication to make resources available to be shared and to benefit more children.
Because the event was held at Anping Junior High School, which is quite far away, or due to time conflicts, it was not possible to go to the event every year; this year, due to the impending retirement of Principal Qiu, we do not know if the event will be held next year, so we had to overcome the problems of transportation and time; after discussing with the teachers about the way of going, we immediately signed up for the date of the visit. We would like to thank the parents for their support in transportation, which made the program possible.
On Monday and Wednesday, we went in groups and the children enjoyed playing the various games under the guidance of the teachers, including wheat clay - changing shapes, sharing stories, coloring the dragon boat, rubbing the dragon boat when we were small, DIY mosquito control oil, land boating, etc.; and there was also a stage waving area, where the children of the older classes signed up and performed the popular "Invincible" song of their childhood, which was performed by their sixth and seventh graders, under the guidance of their enthusiastic teacher, Ms. Wen Lu. Although the song is long gone, the children danced with their childish innocence and joy, and gave their best to the song, shocking the whole audience and making them look impressive.
Although we have already participated in the celebration of Dragon Boat Festival with dolls, teachers introduced the customs again today - there were dramas on the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival, seasonal customs - wearing fragrant buns, hanging wormwood, wrapping rice dumplings, rowing the dragon boat, the rain at noon, and setting up the egg, and this year, a lot of children succeeded in setting up the egg, which was a great sense of achievement, and enjoyed the rice dumplings together at lunch.
The Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated every year, but as children grow older, they have different feelings and experiences, which I hope will be stored in their memory banks and become a help in their learning journey.
